Sleep-everyone needs it. Not just to feel rested the next day, but the body needs this time to repair and the brain needs it to organize. So what do you do when you can't fall asleep? There are tons of over the counter remedies at the drugstore but you're not sure that you want to take synthetic drugs for this problem.

Luckily, there are all-natural sleep aid supplements using ingredients like magnesium, passion flower, Vitamin B6, skullcap and hops extracts that work as well as the synthetic versions and without all the side-effects. Here are the major concerns about these aid supplements and how all-natural stacks up to the other products:

1. Dependence: This is probably the main concern when it comes to these aids. Unfortunately, most processed versions are addictive. If you have to take a pill every night because you think it's the only way you can get to snooze, then you are dependent.

All-natural products do not have this effect. Another problem with dependency is if you try to stop taking the processed drugs, you may experience actual withdrawal that can even resemble the same reaction a recovering crack addict goes through. Again, non-processed ingredients like magnesium and skullcap are non-narcotic. Another symptom after going off synthetic aids is a worse case of insomnia than before the medication.

2. Side-effects: Synthetic aid supplements are known for their list of possible side effects. The most common ones are a groggy feeling the next morning and drowsiness throughout the day, dry mouth and crazy activity while you are sleeping. All-natural products help to calm the nervous system so that you really do get a good night's slumber and wake up ready for the day, not ready to go back to bed.

3. All-night effectiveness: Some processed drugs are not effective in giving you a full night's siesta. Yes, you drift off after taking it, but then at 2 AM, you are wide awake again. With the right combination, these aids directly affect the nervous system and help calm the mind from all the activities of the day. You don't need to think about all that stuff-get some snooze and the brain takes care of sorting through everything for you.

4. Drug interactions: There is a great chance that if you are taking prescription or over-the-counter medications, it may interact with your sleep aid supplement. This is because some of the drugs may be duplicated or contraindicated for your regular medications.

This is especially important if you are regularly taking NSAIDs or medication for depression. While there may be an interaction even with all-natural products, the chance is less likely. Always check with your physician or pharmacist before taking anything new.

All non-processed sleep supplements are a great way to get a good night's slumber without all the extra baggage that comes with the synthetic versions. If the problem worsens or becomes chronic, see your doctor. Sleeplessness can be indicative of a more serious problem and any kind of sleep aid supplement will just treat the symptom and not the real issue.

What is the number one cause of sickness? Germs of course. Bacteria, viruses, you name it. But what else can cause health issues? Buildups of toxins and other undesirable elements in blood is a major one. In America at least for sure, most of the food you eat is covered at some point in chemicals. Most of it is even frequently done over and over again. Take pesticides for an example. Poison is poison folks, if it kills bugs it can't really be good for your body. And yes you can wash fruits and vegetables, but there will still be traces that can build up over time.

What can I do about this, you ask? Well, below are some fairly easy to acquire herbs that can help with general health through blood purification and the like. Essentially, you can just go to any herb supply store and pick up any one of these. Then simply brew it into a tea and drink a couple of times a day for a couple days every few months. You'll notice an immediate and pronounced difference in the way you feel.

Dandelion. Always thought it was just a weed in the front yard didn't you? I certainly did, but not only is it good for blood purification but also for age spots, anemia and as diuretic.

Red Clover. This is my personal choice in a blood purifier. It even tastes pretty good with a touch of honey. In addition to being good for your blood stream, heart, etc. red clover is also good for cancers and tumors and skin problems.

Rose Hips. Didn't know roses had hips? It's an herb that's sometimes a little harder to find than the other two. However, it's great for vitamin C as well as the blood, and is also useful for helping the body fight infections in general.

Additionally, you can take cayenne pepper. You can purchase pill "shells" basically, an bag of empty pill capsules. Fill them with the cayenne pepper, and take as you would any other supplement. One note of warning, however. Cayenne WILL tear your stomach apart to the point where you can be on the ground clutching it and moaning if you don't take a proper amount of water with it. I recommend at least 2 full glasses any time this is used. It does, however, clear you out rather well.

Recently, I've been turned on to another wonderful natural system. It involves simply eating a little differently, and it's amazingly effective. Increasing citrus and garlic intake steadily over the course of 3 to 5 days along with some ginger and lots of water has been shown to "clear out the pipes" effectively. A five day "juice fast" is helpful as well, but can be difficult if you're not used to the idea of nothing but juice.

I highly recommend using at least one of these items if you've been experiencing a lot of sickness or general drained feeling lately. Sometimes it's just an issue of too much stuff floating around in your system. Sure your body can handle some of it, but it never hurts to get a booster shot!
